Technology News:

This month in the news: Christmas is my favorite time of the year.  I would like to take this time to wish everyone and their families a Merry Christmas.

As some of you know, I have been busy taking pictures and videos of your classes of your special projects.  Even if you don't think about it until the last minute, don't hesitate to try to get a hold of me.  Usually Linda Deer in the High School office keeps close tabs with me, and can call me on the radio.  When I come to the classes I print a few of the pictures for you to keep and also a copy for you to send to the newspaper.  All you have to do is type up a short story to go along with them and give them to Karen Snow, and she gets them to the paper.  We have been doing a great job of promoting our school with this technology tool.

I would also like to tell you about another tool that we have in the building.  That is Larry Lawrence and his audio/ visual class.  They are getting started in making newscasts.  He also needs information for this.  The class is just about finished with their first video and it is looking very professional.  In time we will have the ability of showing this and other videos through our local cable channel.  It seems to be taking longer than we had originally thought, but it should be here and in place early in the New Year.  Let's keep our fingers crossed.

Another item of news is our Erate grant for 1999-2000.  I have already received a notice stating that the first form was approved on the first try!!!!  I will be able to submit the next form on December 13. This grant means about $15,000-20,000 in additional money for the district. I will keep you all updated.

This month’s Software Tidbit:

Are you having trouble getting information to print correctly from the Internet?  If so, I have an easy solution for you.

Step 1 Open a new document in Microsoft Word.

Step 2 Open your web browser and the specific page that you are wanting to print.

Step 3 Select the text that you want to print by highlighting it. Or, you can go to the edit pulldown menu and click on SELECT ALL.

Step 4 Go up to the edit pulldown menu and click on COPY.

Step 5 Click in your Microsoft Word blank document.  Now click on the edit pulldown menu and click on PASTE.  Now you can print, or even edit the text.
