After a winless season last year and a rough start in the first half of game one this season, the JH football team rallied to win in overtime against Marmaton Valley. The Jays scored first on a QB keep by Brett Johnson but were unable to convert the 2 point conversion. Marmaton Valley answered quickly with a rushing touchdown of their own. The Blu-Jay defense held strong and kept the score tied at 6-6 going into the half. The Wildcats scored again and led 12-6 until Cole Campbell made a game changing play on defense by scooping up a fumble that he caused and ran in for a touchdown. The score remained 12-12 when the final seconds of the fourth quarter ticked away. The Jays elected to start the overtime on defense. They did their jobs well and held the Wildcat offense scoreless. Brady Anderson pounded the ball in three plays later for the winning touchdown beginning what has the potential of being a successful year for the JH football team.

The 2009 Pleasanton Blu- Jays will kick off their season at home thursday night September 3 at 7:00.   The 2009 Blu-Jays will have some high expectations as they return 8 starters on both sides of the Football.  When asked about the off season works outs coach Casper explained.  "We had a lot of extra days to prepare since we didn't have school and I feel like our players worked hard. We got better each day and they are excited about the season."

What expectations and goals have you set for your team this season?  "Stay healthy. Work hard. Win the league we are in and make it deeper into the playoffs."

What are some of the strengths and weaknesses of your team? Depth we are small in numbers with just 24 players out but we do have some talent. we just have to stay healthy.  However these kids work extremely hard and take a lot of pride in this program.  I think each week they will be prepared and we will see some success."

I know you lost some talented seniors last season, but who are some of the players you expect to rise up and help you out this season? Who will play QB, RB, etc..?

Tyler Myrick QB senior 6'2 180 very athletic. Up front we have all our line man returning. Dillon Roberts 6'1 270, Aaron Loggins 6'3 270, Skyler Martin 5'11 255, Reid Hein 6'4 225, and Colby Carter 6'0 235 Cort Hein 6'0 215. We have some skill players Dakota Kern 5'8 185, Gannon Coffman 6'1 185 Jon Ransier 6'1 170 and Rance Shoenhals 5'9 145 they all can run so we hope we can move the football. Overall we look good on paper its a matter of over coming adversity playing hard and meeting the challenges each week. We are excited and ready for game time.
