Last week the Junior High Volleyball team was able to rack up a few wins and some heart wrenching losses. Facing off on Tuesday against Meranatha, the Girls B and C team were able to both bring home some victories as they played their hearts out in some very tight games. The 8th Grade team was able to play a tightly contested match with Meranatha taking them to 3 games. While this game was lost, the girls again showed that they have the heart to win. On Thursday we were able to rack up 2 wins defeating Miami in both the B and A games. While Miami was a tight contest, the girls again showed that they refuse to lose (this has become our unofficial motto as we nearly always come from behind). Coming from behind in both matches, they were able to place two in the win column. Hats off to our young Blu-Jays as they have proven themselves on and off of the Volleyball Court. Please come out Thursday to watch us in our last game of the season against Crest. |

One might look at the win-loss column and be disappointed from Tuesday Night's matches against Marmaton Valley and Oswego. That is unless you were there to watch the girls play. It's all about heart and effort. That was our goal this week, to play the game with heart. The girls did just that. In our first match of the night, our JV played great against Marmaton Valley. We took the first game 25-20, but fell just short in the next two 22-25 and 9-15. The young Jays looked very good and showed reason to be excited for the next few years to come. In Varsity action, the Jays set the tone for the night by playing Marmaton Valley tough in the loss 22-25 and 23-25. After sitting for a match we came out a little flat against Oswego and lost the first set 11-25. It could have been very easy for the girls to hang their heads after losing the heartbreaking match to MV and then losing the first set to Oswego, but they didn't! In set number two, the girls displayed character. They played their best volleyball of the season. Unfortunately it wasn't enough on this night and WE lost 22-25. In an emotional night for both coaches and players, the girls came together and played as a team of one. As their coach I couldn't be more proud of them. The JH girls traveled to Uniontown on Thursday, Sep. 17th. The girls were able to hold their own in each of the 3 games but were unable to come away with a match win. The 7th Grade Girls team was able to take the Eagles to 3 games losing in the third game 13-15. The 8th Grade girls were able to play 2 tough games with the Eagles but lost both in a closely contested series of games. We are looking forward to playing the St. Paul Indians at home next Thursday. |
