the goal: to create a complete and working interactive game using Macromedia Flash and any other tools necessary

what I plan to do: use a 3D modeling and animation tool (3DCanvas 6) to create the locations and animations for the game. I can then import those into Flash and use Flash to make the game interactive.

what I've done so far: after quite a few false starts, I've finally decided on a game, called the insomniac. I've created a basic 3D model of most of one location, the Apollo Building, using 3DCanvas. Creating the model took quite a long time; eventually a few views of it will be available here. I've also plotted out most of the game. What remains is to finish the other 6 or so locations, import them, and create all of the characters and interactions.

game objective: you are the insomniac, the sleepless one. At night you wander the city, searching for the clues to unravel a vast conspiracy.

when I should be done: by the end of the year

These are a few links to projects and partial projects I created with Flash on my way to making the insomniac.

Blujay - this was my first completed Flash project, an intro for the school website

Epic - this was an experiment with text animation and menus

Mime - this was originally going to be an introduction for a game set in the old West.

Mime2 - a later version of Mime.

Airlock - this is a small scene - experiment with using the mouse to change your view and manipulate some of the items.

NMCOT - this is a partial introduction to a detective game set in outer space.

The following is a short animation made using a partially completed 3D model:
